U18 National Report

A successful tournament for our 2 teams with the Blue team taking out 5th place was capped with Chaz Poot and Lucas Mackaway being selected in the Born 98 Australian team. Chaz while still U18 is training and playing National League this year and while Lucas played with Hunter at the Nationals he plays much of his Water Polo with the Lions travelling each weekend to play U18 and M3’s. The Born 98 team will play in the up-coming U20 Nationals before touring Europe in May playing against Croatia, Hungary and Serbia. A great reward for two dedicated players who put the time into their training and water polo development. Congratulations and Good Luck boys.

Also CONGRATS to the two Sydney University Lions U18 teams who competed at the 2015 Australian Championship in Adelaide.

The Blue team worked their way through a very difficult draw to finish 5th. Three teams from their group deserved to go through to the 1-8 playoffs and in a great knock out game the young Lions progressed with an 11-9 victory against the strong Melbourne team. The Blue team had to play both finalists during the competition.

The Gold team battled every game against physically bigger teams. Many young players will be the better for this tournament. The lack of wins does not show how hard they played. Every game they gave 100%.

Thanks to SUPA managers,  Merillee and Judith, and the wonderful parents who were able to come down and support.

Once again on behalf on the Club I would like to thank our coaches John Cotterill and Rod Perez and Managers,  Merilee and Judith as well as all parents who traveled to Adelaide to assist and support.
